Sabinsa Corporation’s R&D group has developed two new patent pending ingredient compositions with proven preservative efficacy: SabiLizeAlpha and SabiLizeBeta. These proprietary blends of natural antimicrobial actives will help meet the alltoocommon challenge of finding an effective natural preservative for use in cosmetics and personal care products. SabiLizeAlpha and SabiLizeBeta are blends of natural active fractions of various essential oils and phytoextracts. They do not irritate the skin, and both products are supported with safety and efficacy data. In laboratory studies, the preservative efficacy of these compositions was found to be superior to the conventionally used parabens.

Both SabiLizeAlpha and SabiLizeBeta at 0.5% in cream were found to be significantly effective against gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli, as well as Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. In laymen’s terms, these natural ingredients effectively keep commonly problematic bacteria from growing. Additionally, the active ingredients function as antioxidants and prevent the oxidation of oils and fats in cosmetic and personal care formulations.
