Moisturizers
Moisturizers or emollients are complex mixtures of chemical agents, specially designed to make the external layers of the skin (epidermis) softer and more pliable. Lipids play an important role in maintaining the barrier functions of the skin. Lipid compounds provide an occlusive effect to prevent water loss, repair lipid layers and restore barrier functions.
Dry skin or “xerosis” is a common problem which can be treated efficiently by moisturizers. Moisturizers prevent and treat dry skin, protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture, and mask imperfections.
